What you can join around Leigh · Everything local in Leigh
Meets: Weekly on Monday mornings 10:30 am-12:30 pm
Where: Leigh Miners Welfare Institute, Leigh
Between thirty five and forty five ukulele players meet each week, along with a few members who come along just to sing. Sessions differ from week to week, with members taking turns to choose the songs and lead the set while everyone joins in. All the numbers are projected onto a screen, so no music sheets or stands are needed. A spin off from the group, the branch ukulele band, performs at care homes and other venues around the district. It meets every Monday from 10.30am until 12.30pm at Leigh Miners Welfare Institute.
- Newcomers You can come along without a ukulele if you want a good sing song, and instruments can be loaned to new members for short periods until they decide to go further.
- Who it is for Between sessions players are encouraged to practise at home for twenty to thirty minutes a day, after which the simpler tunes come quickly.
Part of Leigh and District u3a. Joining is through membership.
