Meets: Monthly on Monday mornings 10:30 am-12:00 pm 4th Monday of the Month
Where: Heaton Moor United Church, Heatons
The science group explores the wonders of science in its broadest sense, taking in biology, physics, chemistry, engineering and even some gentle mathematics. Topics range across discoveries and inventions, the interesting lives of scientists, applications of science and the impact of science on society, and recent talks have covered epigenetics, graphene, artificial intelligence and bees. Each meeting stands alone, so members need not come every month, although most do, and visits to scientifically interesting places such as museums and visitor centres are arranged from time to time. Meetings are at Heaton Moor United Church on the fourth Monday of the month from 10.30am until noon, with coffee and biscuits after the talk.
- Newcomers Nobody needs to have been a scientist or an engineer, as talks are pitched so that no prior knowledge is assumed.
Part of Heatons & Reddish u3a. Joining is through membership.
