Discovering Villages 1

An enjoyable way of getting to know some of the lovely villages within an hour's drive of the city. Members drive to the chosen village independently, and the researchers for the day give a presentation of thirty minutes on the village history, important buildings, past residents and the trade and business of the village, having planned the route for a walk around the village, surveyed it at least once and sampled the lunch at the local pub. In summer the group may walk up to three miles along country lanes and across fields at a good pace, and every member is expected to research a village visit once a year, with singles able to team up with another member.
