Where: St Monica's Retirement Village (Westbury), Bristol
The group chooses controversial topics to debate, with a volunteer proposer and opposer each giving a brief presentation of their case before the discussion is thrown open. Topics are allocated at least a month in advance to give time for research, and no subject is off limits, although nobody is obliged to discuss subjects with which they are not comfortable. The group enjoys spirited arguments, with the only requirement being to remain polite and respectful at all times. Meetings are in a comfortable residents' lounge at a retirement village in Westbury, with free parking on site and good disability access.
