An informal group that turns a solitary pastime into a sociable one, brainstorming cryptic crosswords over coffee at the Postcode Cafe, swapping anecdotes and working on solving technique. Two groups now run alongside each other on Friday mornings, twice a month. The longer standing group starts at 10am and tackles full daily newspaper cryptics. A second improvers group starts at 10.30am and takes on puzzles set for solvers who are still building their skills, such as quick cryptics and easier weekly puzzles.
- Who it is for The longer standing group is at full capacity and can offer only a place on its waiting list. The improvers group remains open to anyone wanting to brush up on technique.
