Canvey Thameside u3a was founded in August 2014. Its aim is that members learn from each other by sharing their knowledge, skills and experience, through study and education, creative art, music and movement, physical and leisure activities, and socialising together. Interest groups are the life blood of the branch, and the aim is to provide whatever groups members want. There are also social activities through the year, which may include dances, quiz nights and day trips, and a monthly newsletter. The branch meets monthly at St Nicholas's Church Hall on Long Road, Canvey Island, from ten in the morning until noon.
